Grants
2003 – 2005 Solar Decathlon Co-principal investigator on the Solar Decathlon project based on submission to the US department of Energy. NYIT along with 18 other schools was selected out of an international pool of submissions to construct a Solar House on the Washington DC Mall. Personally raised $36,000 for design of a communication application that educated visitors on the NYIT Solar House. http://iris.nyit.edu/solardecathlon2005/gallery/animations.html

2004 - 2005 received a $2,500 NYIT Institutional Support of Research and Creativity Grant for the creation of a multimedia educational video for the 2005 Solar Decathlon. Samples can be viewed at: http://iris.nyit.edu/solardecathlon/gallery/animations.html

2003 $7,500 grant from the LEGO Corporation to do research into online Collaborative Creative Spaces for children.

2001 LEGO “ Wrapping the World online Application” Principle Investigator received a $10,000 external grant contract from the LEGO Corporation. The online version can be viewed at: http://iris.nyit.edu/~plipsky/LEGO_FIX/

2000 and 2001 received a $6,000 NYIT Center for Learning and Technology grant for work using donated motion capture equipment.

May 2004 Author Michele Bousquet Discussed and demonstrated from her book Model Rig, Animate.

November 2004 & 2003 & 2002 Lecture by Micha Reiss creative director of “Flying Machine” lectured on broadcast animation for television.

October 2003 Lecture by Matte Elson of Walt Disney Feature Animation entitled: Brain Candy.

July 2002 The Making of Ice Age: Members of the creative team from Blue Sky Studios gave a creative and technical demonstration on how they created the cast and environments from the full length computer generated movie Ice Age.

June 2001 Demonstration on how Motion Capture works: Site visit to Acclaim Entertainment Glen Cove NY. Students meet with animators and got a behind the scenes look at how Acclaim captures motion for computer games.

November 2001 The Making of Toy Story2: Members of the creative team from Pixar Studios came to Long Island and gave behind-the-scenes look at the production of the award-winning animated feature Toy Story 2.

October 2000 Screening of the SIGGRAPH New Orleans 2000 Electronic Theater tapes.
